Here are 4 Easy Steps to obtain your Commercial Driver License (CDL):

  1. Pass a DOT Physical. Your doctor, many clinics, chiropractors and most truck stops conduct physicals. Shop around. Typical cost in Colorado is $60-70.
  2. Study for your CDL Permit.  Stop by the office and pick up a FREE Permit Study Guide. There are also FREE permit tests you can access online to help you study. After you have studied, you must pass the CDL Permit Written Test at the nearest DMV. (Note: do not allow the DMV to punch a hole in your Driver License when you get your Permit). The permit cost is $16.80 in Colorado.  One you get your permit you must hold it for 14 days.
  3. Call Excel Driver Services and get on the schedule 303-942-8002.  You must schedule your test at least 3 days ahead of time according to State Standards or you can choose your course from below.  We have several different courses to choose from, and we’ll train you for your Commercial Driver License.

“We teach you how to drive, not just how to pass a CDL Test.”

  1. Pass your CDL Skills Test. Excel will issue you a CDL Driving Skills Test Completion Statement for you to take with you to obtain your CDL at the DMV. In Colorado, the fee for the license is $15.50.
